This limits carpooling and shuttles to members of the same household. Individual drivers could also leave bicycles at takeouts for use later to retrieve their cars. We also suggest park and play or flatwater trips during this period. Safety Weekend 2020, July 25/26. Registration is Open! Registration for our 23rd annual Safety Weekend is open!! What is Safety Weekend? Safety Weekend is an annual, two-day, non-certification workshop put on by volunteers with the Willamette Kayak and Canoe Club (WKCC.) The workshop offers land and water-based training and info sessions on basic river safety topics including: whitewater safety gear/equipment, throw bag skills, knots, swiftwater crossing, swiftwater swimming, mechanical advantage, and avoiding river obstacles. Safety Weekend is a great chance to learn and/or refresh your whitewater safety skills in a welcoming and fun environment, and a great chance to meet fellow river enthusiasts. Will Safety Weekend be affected by Coronavirus? At this point, we don't know, but stay tuned. It is possible we will have to postpone or even cancel it. However, we’re hoping for the best, still moving forward with our plans for a great Safety Weekend and proceeding with registration. Our hope is that by July 25/26, we’ll be on the far side of the Coronavirus curve. Of course, we will follow the guidelines established by BLM, CDC, State of Oregon, Linn County, and other authorities. So keep on registering, and you will be issued a full refund should we need to cancel Safety Weekend and/or postpone it to a date that doesn't work for you. More details and registration here. We need volunteers! Please sign up to volunteer from the link on the Safety Weekend page. -- Upcoming River Cleanups -- Great way to meet fellow boaters and do good. CANCELLED!!
